The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Managua: Caribbean Coast (#6) and Leones MGA (#4). Leones MGA was smashed at home by 29 points 59-88 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Caribbean Coast looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican guard Luis Lopez (182-1998, college: PR-Mayaguez) who scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Jorge Gonzalez chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds. Caribbean Coast's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Puerto Rican guard Jeffrey Burgos (198-1994, college: Seton Hill) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and Puerto Rican point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Caribbean Coast have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Leones MGA at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with UNI Basket.
