Regular Season Round 10: Capitalinas - Caribenas 83-77

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Capitalinas as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Cayenas) loss. Capitalinas defeated 4th ranked Caribenas at home 83-77. They outrebounded Caribenas 50-31 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Capitalinas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Caribenas were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Yulianny Perez (175-2001) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Point guard Fabiana Garcia (169-2006) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Capitalinas' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international guard Waleska Perez (180-1994, college: Weatherford JC) replied with a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 blocks and point guard Jormelys Urbina (170-1996) added 22 points and 4 steals in the effort for Caribenas. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Pastoras. Caribenas at the other side dropped to the third place with six games lost. Caribenas will play next round against strong Cayenas trying to get back on the winning streak. Capitalinas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
