Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Malvin (#3) and Hebraica (#4). Hebraica was defeated at home 54-67 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Malvin outrebounded Hebraica 46-34 including a 39-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Argentinian forward Carla Miculka (174-1993) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds for the winners and guard Carolina Fernandez (186-2003) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Malvin's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Argentinian forward Celeste Alfaro (172-1992) with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Argentinian guard Valeria Fernandez (-1998) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Malvin have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 6-3 record having just two points less than leader Yale. Loser Hebraica keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Malvin will meet at home Remeros (#6) in the next round. Hebraica will play against the league's leader Aguada and hope to secure a win.
