Regular Season Round 3: Hebraica - Penarol 95-93

A very close game took place in Montevideo (derby !!!) between Hebraica and Penarol. Hebraica (1-2) got a very close home victory over Penarol (2-1). Hebraica managed to escape with a 2-point win 95-93 on Friday evening. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Aaron Thomas (196-1991, college: FSU) who led the winners and scored 31 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). His fellow American import Joe Lawson (201-1992, college: Indianapolis) accounted for 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Hebraica's coach Leonardo Zylberstein allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) came up with 26 points and guard Juan Zanotta (185-1995) added 17 points and 12 assists respectively for Penarol in the defeat. Five Hebraica and four Penarol players scored in double figures. Hebraica's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Malvin.
