La Liga top team - Instituto (9-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Penarol (3-3) in Cordoba 83-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Penarol. Penarol was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Tayavek Gallizzi (206-1993) nailed 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and guard Nicolas Copello (193-1992) accounted for 15 points. Four Instituto players scored in double figures. The former international Tomas Monacchi (198-1997) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Bruno Sansimoni (194-1996) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Penarol in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Instituto have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-1 record. Penarol at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Instituto will play against Ferro (#6) in Buenos Aires in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
