Regular Season Round 5: Defensor - L.Borges 91-77

Defensor can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked L.Borges (2-3) 91-77 on Friday. Defensor forced 21 L.Borges turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Shane Gibson (188-1990, college: Sacred Heart) stepped up and scored 26 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Sebastian Ottonello (200-1997) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Defensor players scored in double figures. American center Ricardo Glenn (203-1990, college: USC Upstate, agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and forward Christian Pereira (194-1993) scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defensor (1-3) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Urupan. L.Borges at the other side dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Defensor's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Olimpia.
