Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Cerrado (1-5) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Caxias do Sul (3-1) 82-67 on Saturday. Caxias do Sul dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Cerrado's 22. Center Thiago Mathias (208-1989, college: N.Mexico JC) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and forward Arthur Bernardi (205-1990, college: HCU) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Caxias do Sul players scored in double figures. Guard Daniel Von Haydin (194-1999) responded with 21 points and power forward Ruan Miranda (205-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Caxias do Sul moved-up to fifth place. Cerrado lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Pato Basquete. Caxias do Sul will meet Sao Jose (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cerrado will play against Minas (#9) and hope to win that game.
