Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paulo: Sao Paulo (#4) and Corinthians (#5). Sao Paulo (4-1) won against visiting Corinthians (3-3) 78-72. The former international point guard Elinho Corazza (191-1989, college: Miami Dade CC) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. American guard Cordero Bennett (185-1988) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American guard Davaunta Thomas (196-1995, college: UAFS) answered with 28 points and 7 rebounds and Maozinha Pereira (200-2000) added 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Corinthians. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sao Paulo moved-up to third place, which they share with Bauru. Corinthians at the other side dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Minas and Paulistano. Sao Paulo will play against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Corinthians will play against Pato (#16) in Pato Branco and hopes to get back on the winning track.
