Regular Season Round 9: Osorno - Ancud 42-103

Undefeated leader Ancud delivered the sixth consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Osorno (0-6) 103-42. Ancud held Osorno to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 55.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Ancud forced 21 Osorno turnovers and outrebounded them 53-37 including a 45-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Ancud looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Osorno's players. International Sebastian Suarez (193-1991, college: Portland St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international power forward Renato Vera (199-1987) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Ancud players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Jorge Guzman (-1993) with 14 points and 5 rebounds and guard Kevin Ortega (-2002) scored 10 points and 4 steals. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Ancud. They maintain first place with 6-0 record, which they share with Concepcion. Osorno lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Ancud will meet at home Castro (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Osorno will play against Puerto Montt and hopes to get finally their first victory.
