Regular Season Round 10: GELP - Pilar 80-107
Date: November 8, 2022
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when eleventh ranked Pilar (4-5) crushed 10th ranked GELP (3-5) in La Plata 107-80 on Tuesday. Pilar shot 60.9 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Naturalized Paraguayan forward Gabriel Peralta (201-1995) notched 29 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and Franco Smaniotti (194-2000) supported him with 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds by center Franco Barroso (207-1994) did not help to save the game for GELP. Point guard Carlos Gianella (181) added 18 points and 4 assists for lost side. Four Pilar and five GELP players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pilar have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. GELP lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. They share it with Salta Basket. Pilar will meet at home higher ranked Quilmes MP (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. GELP will play against Lanus (#11) in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
