Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Ameghino (2-3) defeated 9th ranked Riachuelo LR (2-3) in La Rioja 65-58 on Friday. The winners were led by Maira Perren who scored that evening 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Paraguayan forward Paloma Niz (175-1999) supported her with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Ameghino's coach Ramiro Ortiz used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 21 points by Natalia Gervasio did not help to save the game for Riachuelo LR. Victoria Lara (176-1996) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Four Riachuelo LR players scored in double figures. Ameghino moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Riachuelo LR. Ameghino will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Riachuelo LR will play again against Ameghino (#6) in Cordoba and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
