The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th ranked Penarol's (3-3) home loss to third ranked Bigua (4-1) in Montevideo 73-81 on Friday. Bigua outrebounded Penarol 44-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Brazilian center Luis Santos (194-1994) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Santiago Vidal (180-1989, agency: Pro Sports) supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Bigua players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 5 rebounds by American power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) did not help to save the game for Penarol. Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (196-1987, college: Ole Miss) added 16 points. Bigua have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion used an opportunity after Goes lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Penarol dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Aguada and L.Borges. Bigua's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Malvin.
