Regular Season Round 11: Las Animas - Espanol O. 92-86

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when second-ranked Espanol O. (5-3) lost to third ranked Las Animas (4-3) in Valdivia 86-92 on Sunday. Las Animas dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Espanol O.'s 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. International Diego Low (190-1997) accounted for 17 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. International Carlos Lauler (190) came up with 20 points and Argentinian point guard Juan Cardenas (-1991) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Espanol O. in the defeat. Four Espanol O. players scored in double figures. Espanol O.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Las Animas maintains third place with 4-3 record having just three points less than leader Manquehue, which they share with Quilicura. Loser Espanol O. keeps the second position with three games lost. Las Animas will meet at home Liceo PN (#5) in the next round. Espanol O. will have a break next round.
