Regular Season Round 9: Pinheiros - Sesi Franca 77-85

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Vivo/Franca (#1) and Pinheiros (#6). Pinheiros was defeated at home 77-85 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Vivo/Franca made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Pinheiros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-1996) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-1993) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Rafael Munford (195-1998, college: Augusta) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Felipe Ruivo (188) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Pinheiros. Five Vivo/Franca and four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vivo/Franca (11-0) have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 11 victories in a row. Pinheiros at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Vivo/Franca are looking forward to face Caxias do Sul (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pinheiros' supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Corinthians.
