Regular Season Round 6: Union Florida - Pacifico 59-40

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Pacifico (6-4) against seventh ranked Union Florida (3-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Pacifico was crushed by Union Florida in Florida 59-40. Union Florida held Pacifico to an opponent 18.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Pacifico 36-24 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for guard Munay Martinez (165-1992) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Myriam Alonso contributed with 5 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The former international Ailin Astorga (-1986) replied with 8 points and 6 rebounds and center Natassja Kolff (188-2004) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Pacifico. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Union Florida have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Union Florida went down to eighth position due to points difference, which they share with Rocamora and Ameghino. Newly promoted Pacifico keeps the third place with four games lost. Union Florida will play against Rocamora (#8) in Concepcion de Urug. in the next round. Pacifico will play on the road against Ferro Carril (#12) in Olavarria and hopes to get back on the winning track.
