Everything went according to plan when second ranked Flamengo (10-1) outplayed 12th ranked Brasilia (3-6) in Rio de Janeiro 72-50 on Thursday. Flamengo outrebounded Brasilia 44-30 including a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Aguirre (189-1988) nailed 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and the former international center Rafael Hettsheimeir (210-1986) accounted for 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures. Flamengo's coach Gustavo Conti felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Forward Paulo Scheuer (203-1999) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and the former international point guard Ricardo Fischer (183-1991) added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Brasilia in the defeat. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Flamengo. They maintain second place with 10-1 record behind leader Sesi Franca. Loser Brasilia keeps the twelfth position with six games lost. Flamengo will meet Sao Jose (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brasilia will play against Sao Jose and hope to secure a win.
