Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked La Banda (4-5) outplayed bottom-ranked Riachuelo LR (2-7) in La Rioja 63-41 on Saturday. La Banda held Riachuelo LR to an opponent 23.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.7 percent accuracy of the winners. It was an exceptional evening for Stefania Lucero who led the winners and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Jacqueline Soto accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Florencia Ortiz came up with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Victoria Lara (176-1996) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Riachuelo LR in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory La Banda went down to eighth position due to points difference. Riachuelo LR lost their sixth game in a row. Riachuelo LR at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. La Banda will meet at home higher ranked Catamarca (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Riachuelo LR will play again against La Banda (#8) and hope to secure a win.
