Very expected game in Comodoro Rivadavia where 12th ranked La Union (5-10) was defeated by second ranked Gimnasia (11-3) 90-77 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Gerard DeVaughn (205-1988, college: Stillman) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-1997, agency: Pro Sports) who added 22 points during the contest. DeVaughn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American guard Michael Henry (196-1995, college: Buffalo St.) with 15 points and guard Franco Vieta (194-1992) scored 14 points. Four La Union players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Gimnasia went down to third position due to points difference. Loser La Union dropped to the thirteenth place with ten games lost. Gimnasia will meet at home Regatas (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. La Union will play against Boca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
