The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Defensor's (4-6) home loss to eighth ranked Nacional (5-4) 75-80 on Monday. Nacional forced 19 Defensor turnovers. Strangely Defensor outrebounded Nacional 38-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American Will Daniels (202-1986, college: URI) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. Point guard Alejandro Acosta (189-1989) helped adding 11 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. American guard Shane Gibson (188-1990, college: Sacred Heart) responded with 22 points and 5 assists and American-Jamaican Quintrell Thomas (203-1990, college: UNLV) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Five Nacional and four Defensor players scored in double figures. Nacional moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Aguada and Hebraica. Loser Defensor dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Nacional's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Goes.
