Regular Season Round 12: Quimsa - Atenas 96-74
Date: December 6, 2022
There was no surprise in Santiado del Estero where 20th ranked Atenas (1-9) was crushed by fifth ranked Quimsa (9-5) 96-74 on Tuesday. Quimsa outrebounded Atenas 39-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Atenas' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Eric Anderson (204-1993, college: New Haven) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Fabian Ramirez (200-1990) who added 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Quimsa players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American Dominique Morrison (198-1989, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) with 23 points and Georgian-Puerto Rican guard Guillermo Diaz (188-1985, college: Miami, FL) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Quimsa maintains fifth position with 9-5 record. Atenas lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Quimsa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Atenas will play against Olimpico (#4) in La Banda and hope to win that game.
