Regular Season Round 13: Ferro - Union SF 80-78

Eighteenth-ranked Union SF (3-10) was very close to win a game against ninth ranked Ferro (7-7) in Buenos Aires on Thursday. Ferro managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Union SF outrebounded Ferro 36-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Point guard Juan Laterza (180-1997) nailed 26 points and 4 steals for the winning side and swingman Valentin Bettiga (189-1999) accounted for 19 points and 8 rebounds. Four Ferro players scored in double figures. Haitian forward Jeantal Cylla (201-1996, college: Arkansas) came up with 14 points and Mateo Bolivar (187-1992) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Union SF in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Ferro have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place. Union SF lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighteenth position with ten games lost. Ferro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Union SF will play against Penarol (#8) and hope to secure a win.
