Very expected game in Belo Horizonte where 16th ranked Rio Claro (2-10) was crushed by fifth ranked Minas (8-4) 90-61 on Thursday. Minas dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Rio Claro's 28. They outrebounded Rio Claro 49-28 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Minas looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for Wesley Ferreira (200-1995) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Alexey Borges (185-1995) helped adding 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Minas players scored in double figures. Minas' coach Leonardo Costa felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jamison Elder (196-1998, college: Shawnee St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Cassiano Bueno (189-1997) scored 14 points and 6 assists. Minas maintains fifth place with 8-4 record. Rio Claro lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with ten games lost. They share it with U.Corinthians. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
