Regular Season Round 11: U.Corinthians - Corinthians 86-91
Date: December 10, 2022
Not a big story in a game in Santa Cruz do Sul where 15th ranked U.Corinthians (2-10) was defeated by fourth ranked Corinthians (9-3) 91-86 on Saturday. Corinthians had a 32-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Davaunta Thomas (196-1995, college: UAFS) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 7 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Center Maique Tavares (210-1993) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Corinthians players scored in double figures. American MikeL Simms (196-1997, college: VCU) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Argentinian guard Enzo Ruiz (194-1988) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Corinthians. They maintain fourth place with 9-3 record. U.Corinthians at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Rio Claro. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
