Regular Season Round 17: Paulistano - Sesi Franca 64-70

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paulo: Vivo/Franca (#1) and Paulistano (#7). Despite it looked like an easy game for Vivo/Franca, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host Paulistano challenged much higher ranked Vivo/Franca giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by six points 70-64. Paulistano was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 39-30 second half run of Vivo/Franca. They made 23-of-26 charity shots (88.5 percent) during the game. International center Lucas Silva (208-1995) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. The former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-1996) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Four Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. Point guard Adyel Borges (188-2002) answered with 19 points and Victor Camilo (203-1997) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Paulistano. The victory was the eighteenth consecutive win for Vivo/Franca. They maintain first place with 18-0 record. Paulistano at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
