Regular Season Round 18: Flamengo - Pinheiros 70-66

Rather predictable result when second ranked Flamengo (16-2) won against 6th ranked Pinheiros (11-7) in Rio de Janeiro 70-66 on Tuesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Argentinian Martin Cuello (193-1993) notched 16 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward Olivinha Rodriguez (202-1983) supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Rafael Munford (195-1998, college: Augusta) did not help to save the game for Pinheiros. Canadian forward Richard Amardi (206-1990, college: Oregon, agency: BIG) added 15 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Flamengo maintains second position with 16-2 record having just two points less than leader Sesi Franca. Loser Pinheiros keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Flamengo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pinheiros will play against Cerrado (#15) and hope to secure a win.
