Regular Season Round 20: Flamengo - Corinthians 90-64
Date: January 19, 2023
Not a big story in a game in Rio de Janeiro where 7th ranked Corinthians (11-8) was outplayed by second ranked Flamengo (17-2) 90-64 on Thursday. Flamengo shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Gabriel Galvanini (202-1998) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Argentinian point guard Jose Vildoza (191-1996, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 15 points during the contest. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures. Maozinha Pereira (200-2000) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and guard Isaac Goncalves (196-1990) scored 15 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Flamengo have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-2 record having just two points less than leader Sesi Franca. Corinthians lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Bauru. Flamengo will meet UNIFACISA (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Corinthians' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Paulistano.
