Argentina
Regular Season Round 22: Boca - Independ.O. 89-83
Date: January 20, 2023
There was no surprise in Buenos Aires where 14th ranked Independ.O. (7-10) was defeated by tenth ranked Boca (10-8) 89-83 on Friday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Boca made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Boca outrebounded Independ.O. 42-24 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American power forward Jamari Traylor (203-1992, college: Kansas) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Raven Barber (206-1991, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: Players Group) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Martin Cabrera (179-1996) responded with 20 points and Salvador Giletto (195-1993) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Boca have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place. Newly promoted Independ.O. keeps the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Boca will meet at home league's leader Gimnasia in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Independ.O. will play against Ferro (#12) in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
