Regular Season Round 27: Montmartre - Ameghino 76-90

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Ameghino (17-3) beat on the road 9th ranked Montmartre (7-10) 90-76 on Friday. Ameghino dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Montmartre's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (200-1988) who scored 28 points and 7 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Point guard Cristian Zenclussen (186-1997) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Richard Granberry (203-1993, college: Virginia St.) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and swingman Martin Gomez (197-1996) added 19 points and 8 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ameghino. They maintain second place with 17-3 record having just three points less than leader Racing. Newly promoted Montmartre keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ameghino will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Montmartre will play against Independiente (#5) in Santiago del Estero and hope to secure a win.
