Regular Season Round 25: Obras - Regatas 74-40

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Obras (10-9) crushed higher ranked Regatas (10-6) in Buenos Aires 74-40 on Saturday. Obras forced 20 Regatas turnovers. Swingman Lautaro Barrios (195-2004) nailed 25 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and point guard Juan Respaud (190-2005) accounted for 13 points and 4 steals. Obras' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominican Rey Abad (210-2002) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and Venezuelan center Enrique Medina (218-2004) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Regatas in the defeat. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Obras. They moved-up to ninth place. Loser Regatas dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Obras will meet at home higher ranked Instituto (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Regatas will play against Platense (#14) in Florida and hope to secure a win.
