There was no surprise in Montevideo where 9th ranked Urupan (8-11) was defeated by third ranked Aguada (12-8) 92-84 on Friday. Aguada looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-1988, college: Kentucky, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Orlando Johnson (193-1989, college: UCSB) who added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. American forward Eric Ferguson (203-1989, college: Georgia South) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Donald Robinson (192-1989, college: WVU Tech) scored 23 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Urupan's coach Esteban Yaquinta tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Aguada maintains third position with 12-8 record behind leader Bigua. Loser Urupan keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Defensor and L.Borges. Aguada's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Nacional.
