Regular Season Round 8: Castro - Puerto Montt 79-70
Date: February 5, 2023
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Castro (2-4) beat at home 11th ranked Puerto Montt (2-6) 79-70 on Sunday. Castro shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. The winners were led by Vicente Guaico (-1994) who scored that evening 18 points and 4 assists and point guard Oscar Barria (175-2003) supported him with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Castro's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by Argentinian forward Martin Chervo (200-1992) did not help to save the game for Puerto Montt. American forward Josh Morris (203-1993, college: UTPB) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Castro moved-up to eleventh place. Puerto Montt lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Castro will meet at home higher ranked Valdivia (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Puerto Montt will play against Quilicura (#8) and hope to secure a win.
