Regular Season Round 22: Sao Jose - Pinheiros 94-92

The most exciting game of round 22 in the NBB took place in Sao Jose. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Pinheiros (13-9) to ninth ranked Sao Jose (11-12) 94-92 on Monday evening. Strangely Pinheiros outrebounded Sao Jose 39-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Eddy Carvalho (197-1987) who helped to win the game recording 24 points. The former international point guard Arthur Pecos (180-1994) contributed with 9 points and 10 assists for the winners. Four Sao Jose players scored in double figures. The former international forward Rafael Munford (195-1998, college: Augusta) replied with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Dikembe Andre (206-1999) added 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Pinheiros. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sao Jose maintains ninth position with 11-12 record. Pinheiros at the other side dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. Sao Jose are looking forward to face Caxias do Sul (#11) on the road in the next round. Pinheiros' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo Paulistano.
