Regular Season Round 23: Caxias do Sul - Sao Jose 79-76

There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Caxias do Sul (10-12) edged at home 9th ranked Sao Jose (11-13) 79-76 on Tuesday. It was a great evening for center Thiago Mathias (208-1989, college: N.Mexico JC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Deryk Ramos (185-1994) helped adding 14 points and 4 assists. Power forward Renato Carbonari (202-1987) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Argentinian point guard Diego Figueredo (185-1991, agency: BIG) scored 13 points and 8 assists. Five Caxias do Sul and four Sao Jose players scored in double figures. Sao Jose's coach Sebastian Luis Figueredo tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Caxias do Sul moved-up to tenth place. Loser Sao Jose keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Caxias do Sul will meet at home league's second-placed Flamengo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sao Jose will play against U.Corinthians (#14) in Santa Cruz do Sul and hope to secure a win.
