There was a minor upset in Sao Paulo where 6th ranked Corinthians (14-11) was edged by ninth ranked UNIFACISA (12-14) 68-66 on Thursday. Strangely Corinthians outrebounded UNIFACISA 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Panamanian-American point guard Trevor Gaskins (188-1989, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Pro Sports) fired 17 points for the winners. The former international Antonio Ferreira (200-1994) chipped in 11 points. UNIFACISA's coach Cesar Guidetti used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Lazaro Rojas (211-1996, college: UT Arlington) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Maozinha Pereira (200-2000) added 10 points and 14 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for UNIFACISA. They maintain ninth place with 12-14 record, which they share with Sao Jose. Loser Corinthians keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Pinheiros. UNIFACISA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Corinthians will play against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
