Regular Season Round 32: Comunicaciones - Gimnasia 84-93
Date: March 3, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Comunicaciones (7-22) lost to third ranked Gimnasia (20-8) in Mercedes 84-93 on Friday. The winners were led by Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-1997, agency: Pro Sports) who scored that evening 17 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and American center Gerard DeVaughn (205-1988, college: Stillman) supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds. DeVaughn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Gimnasia's coach Martin Villagran used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Even 22 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Will Vorhees (203-1995, college: NDC) did not help to save the game for Comunicaciones. His fellow American import forward Germain Jordan (198-1986, college: Dillard) added 14 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Four Gimnasia and five Comunicaciones players scored in double figures. Gimnasia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Comunicaciones lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 22 games lost. They share it with San Lorenzo. Gimnasia will meet Obera (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Comunicaciones will play against Platense (#8) and hope to secure a win.
