No shocking result in a game when third ranked Sao Paulo (19-6) won against at home 11th ranked Caxias do Sul (10-14) 70-64 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sao Paulo looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Tulio Da Silva (203-1996, college: Missouri St.) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. American guard Cordero Bennett (185-1988) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists. Four Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. Naturalized French Pedro Mendonca (196-1995) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Arthur Bernardi (205-1990, college: HCU) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Caxias do Sul's coach Bruno Lopes rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Sao Paulo maintains third place with 19-6 record having six points less than leader Sesi Franca. Loser Caxias do Sul keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Sao Paulo will meet at home U.Corinthians (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caxias do Sul will play against Paulistano in Sao Paulo and hope to secure a win.
