Regular Season Round 1: Sorocabana - Pinda 68-34

There was a minor upset when Pinda was crushed on the road by Sorocabana 68-34 on Sunday. Sorocabana held Pinda to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Sorocabana forced 24 Pinda turnovers and outrebounded them 42-30 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Pinda's players. Leonardo Jacon (199-1996, college: Southeastern) stepped up and scored 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and point guard Adler Ribeiro (180-2000) chipped in 19 points. At the losing side point guard Pedro Rodrigues (175-2000) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds and forward Erik Jardim (198-1989) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sorocabana will meet Cruzeiro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pinda will play against Santos and hope to win that game.
