Twelfth-ranked U.Corinthians (7-17) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Paulistano (17-9) in Sao Paulo. Paulistano managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Paulistano made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Point guard Adyel Borges (188-2002) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Gui Abreu (199-1999) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Paulistano's coach Demetrius Ferraciu allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Point guard Augusto Leao (184-1998) replied with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and American MikeL Simms (196-1997, college: VCU) added 22 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for U.Corinthians. Four U.Corinthians players scored in double figures. Paulistano have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 17-9 record. U.Corinthians at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 17 games lost. Paulistano will play against bottom-ranked Cerrado (#17) in Brasilia in the next round which should be an easy win for them. U.Corinthians will play at home against Rio Claro (#16) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
