The game between closely ranked teams ended with Teporacas' (6-0) home victory over Mieleras (4-2) 58-50 on Friday. Teporacas forced 24 Mieleras turnovers. Strangely Mieleras outrebounded Teporacas 51-35 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Briahanna Jackson (168-1993, college: Louisville) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized American point guard Hazel Ramirez (165-1992, college: LMU) accounted for 6 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Guard Mayra Gil (174-2003) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and Ana Calderon added 11 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Mieleras in the defeat. Teporacas will meet Lobas (#5) in the next round. Mieleras will have a break next round.
