There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Ferro (12-17) beat higher ranked Olimpico (17-10) in Buenos Aires 89-72 on Monday. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Juan Laterza (180-1997) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 4 assists. Point guard Tomas Spano (183-1998) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Point guard Nicolas Paletta (179-1987) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Elyjah Clark (190-1998, college: MSSU) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for Olimpico in the defeat. Five Olimpico players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ferro maintains fifteenth place with 12-17 record. Loser Olimpico dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Penarol. Ferro will meet at home bottom-ranked Atenas (#20) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Olimpico will have a break next round.
