Very important is a road loss of third ranked Sao Paulo (21-7) against fifth ranked Minas (18-7) on Tuesday night. Visiting Sao Paulo was defeated by Minas in Belo Horizonte 87-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sao Paulo. They outrebounded Sao Paulo 38-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. Minas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 9 assists. Power forward Eden Ewing (204-1997, college: Texas Southern) helped adding 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was guard Malcolm Miller (201-1991, college: Southern) with 19 points and guard Cordero Bennett (185-1988) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Minas moved-up to fourth place. Sao Paulo at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Minas will play against Rio Claro (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sao Paulo will have a break next round.
