There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (3-5) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (2-5) 101-89 on Tuesday. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Spencer Williams (188-1995, college: Wooster) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 assists and the other American import forward Anthony Young (200-1989, college: KWC) who added 24 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. At the losing side Swiss point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) responded with 29 points and 4 assists and American power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Tijuana Zonkeys moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mazatlan. Pioneros Los Mochis lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet at home higher ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against the league's leader Astros and hope to secure a win.
