There was no surprise in Guadalajara where 4th ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (3-4) were crushed by first ranked Astros (6-2) 107-77 on Tuesday. Astros dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ostioneros de Guaymas' 30. They outrebounded Ostioneros de Guaymas 40-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Decensae White (198-1988, college: SF State) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and guard Shamorie Ponds (185-1998, college: St.John's) who added 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. White is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Astros' coach Ariel Rearte felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Antwon Lillard (198-1995, college: BGSU) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and guard Markel Crawford (196-1994, college: Ole Miss) scored 21 points. Five Astros and four Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Astros have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Astros maintains first position with 6-2 record, which they share with Culiacan. Loser Ostioneros de Guaymas keep the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Obregon. Astros will meet bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against the league's second-placed Caballeros de Culiacan (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
