Regular Season Round 4: Culiacan - Hermosillo 79-76

The most exciting game of round 4 in the CIBACOPA took place in Culiacan. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (4-3) to second ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (6-2) 79-76 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Rayos de Hermosillo. Caballeros de Culiacan dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Rayos de Hermosillo's 26. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Caballeros de Culiacan made 7 blocks. Colombian Michaell Jackson (190-1987) fired 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Johnny Hughes III (203-1997, college: UIW) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Jorge Camacho (203-1989, college: EKU) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caballeros de Culiacan keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Astros. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan is looking forward to face Ostioneros de Guaymas (#4) on the road in the next round. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Venados in Mazatlan and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
