Regular Season Round 4: Los Mochis - Tijuana 88-90

A very close game took place in Los Mochis between Tijuana Zonkeys and Pioneros Los Mochis. Eighth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (3-5) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (2-5). Tijuana Zonkeys managed to escape with a 2-point win 90-88 on Wednesday evening. Tijuana Zonkeys made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Pioneros Los Mochis outrebounded Tijuana Zonkeys 48-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Anthony Young (200-1989, college: KWC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and guard Spencer Williams (188-1995, college: Wooster) who added 26 points during the contest. At the losing side guard Jawaun Daniels (201-1998, college: PVAMU, agency: Green Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Tijuana Zonkeys moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mazatlan. Pioneros Los Mochis lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet at home higher ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against the league's leader Astros and hope to secure a win.
