There was no surprise in Paraiba where 10th ranked UNIFACISA (13-16) was defeated by seventh ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (16-13) 81-71 on Friday. Germerson Barbosa (205-1993) stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and Argentinian point guard Jonatan Machuca (186-1989) chipped in 15 points and 8 assists. Five Paschoalotto/Bauru players scored in double figures. The former international Andre Bresolin (195-1987) responded with 15 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Argentinian-Italian point guard Facundo Corvalan (190-1998) scored 14 points. Defending champion maintains seventh place with 16-13 record. Loser UNIFACISA dropped to the ninth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Sao Jose. Paschoalotto/Bauru will meet at home higher ranked Pinheiros (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UNIFACISA will play against U.Corinthians in Santa Cruz do Sul and hope to secure a win.
