Regular Season Round 3: Santos - Cruzeiro 79-73

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Cruzeiro (3-1) on the court of Santos on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Santos 79-73. Santos forced 26 Cruzeiro turnovers. It was a great evening for power forward Dida Pereira (202-1992, college: Sequoias CC) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Alef Alves (185-1995) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Santos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Pedro Lima (191-1987) with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Jose Carlos (200-1997) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santos is looking forward to face Sorocabana (#4) on the road in the next round. Cruzeiro will play against Praia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
