Very expected game in Sao Paulo where 12th ranked U.Corinthians (9-19) was defeated by eighth ranked Corinthians (15-14) 82-78 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Corinthians looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Davaunta Thomas (196-1995, college: UAFS) stepped up and scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and guard Isaac Goncalves (196-1990) chipped in 24 points. Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Vithor Lersch (184-1995) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and Italian-Argentinian forward Federico Aguerre (203-1988) scored 22 points. Five U.Corinthians players scored in double figures. Corinthians maintains eighth place with 15-14 record. Loser U.Corinthians keeps the twelfth position with 19 games lost. They will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. U.Corinthians will play against UNIFACISA (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
