Rather predictable result when third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (6-3) rolled over bottom-ranked Venados (3-7) in Mazatlan 108-85 on Saturday. Rayos de Hermosillo looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) nailed 20 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Jorge Camacho (203-1989, college: EKU) accounted for 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Vincent Boumann (206-1996, college: WOU) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import point guard Jay-R Strowbridge (183-1988, college: Oregon, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points respectively for Venados in the defeat. Five Rayos de Hermosillo and four Venados players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rayos de Hermosillo maintains third place with 6-3 record behind leader Astros. Venados lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will meet at home Tijuana Zonkeys (#4) in the next round. Venados will play against Pioneros Los Mochis (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
