Rather expected game in Guanajuato where 5th ranked Lobas (1-7) were rolled over by third ranked Mieleras (6-2) 95-69 on Tuesday. Mieleras dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Lobas' 24. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Lobas' players. American forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and Cuban Oyanaisy Gelis (172-1983) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Mieleras players scored in double figures. Point guard Dana Soto (167-1997) responded with 29 points and 8 rebounds and Anel Tapia scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 6-2 record having six points less than leader Teporacas. Lobas lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Lenadoras. Mieleras will meet Quetzales (#4) in the next round. Lobas will play against Lenadoras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
